As a Senior Cloud Network Engineer, you will be an integral part of the design, deployment, and administration of our corporate and Cloud network infrastructure.

What You'll Do


  • Enhance,deploy, and configure  Network Operations (NetOps) systems via automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Your processes will provide hands off real time updates for our network environment, including:
  • Cloudflare services: WAF, Argo Tunnels, Access, etc.
  • Network hardware: WiFi, Firewalls, routers, switches, console servers, PDUs, UPSs, etc.
  • AWS Networking: Transit Gateway, IPSec tunnels, routing, etc.
  • Twingate services for our clients connectivity to our clouds
  • DNS services within Cloudflare and AWS\
  • Various network services for our corporate environment
  • In addition to configuring and managing systems via IaC, you’ll work alongside the Cloud Infrastructure team to integrate them into our alerting, logging, monitoring, etc. systems – ensuring consistency, stability, and observability into all aspects of 23andMe’s network infrastructure.
  • You will also look for ways to automate software/firmware updates,analyze performance, and proactively monitor telemetry/logs to identify potential issues/failures.
  • Beyond automation, you are also a member of the NetOps team and will need to maintain and troubleshoot our network environment as well as be part of a rotating on-call schedule.
  • You will utilize Terraform and Python as our main tools, as well as work w/ Docker, Drone CI/CD, and AWS/Cloudflare APIs.

What You'll Bring 


  • At least 10 years of experience in a network engineering role.
  • Deep understanding of switching, routing (LAN and Internet scale/BGP), IPv4/IPv6 addressing, TCP/IP protocols, VLANs, LAG, MCLAG, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive under pressure and meet ambitious objectives.
  • AWS networking and DNS
  • At least 3 years of experience building IaC services using  Terraform and Python.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Strongly Preferred 


Experience with:

  • Juniper Network firewalls, routers, switches
  • Fortinet Fortigate firewalls
  • Python Expect/TCL
  • Network security strategies and methodologies
  • Hands-on experience with logging and telemetry platforms such as  New Relic, Sumo Logic, etc
  • Implementation/migration of IPv4 to IPv6.

Pay Transparency


23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.San Francisco Bay Area Base Pay Range$153,600—$230,400 USD
