Department of Defense and U.S. allies. Job DescriptionThe Quality Engineering Technician plays a critical role in Quality Sustainment in production. The QET will be responsible for operational quality over the Incoming and Material Review Board area. This includes overseeing current inspection plan quality, tool calibration, QA initial NCR response, rework inspection, and overall day-to-day production quality assurance.
What You'll Do:
Testing and Inspection- Quality engineering technicians will partake in conducting comprehensive tests and inspections on raw materials, components, and finished products. This includes adherence to established quality standards and protocols documented in inspection plans in 1Factory.
Inspection Plans- QET’s are responsible for maintaining inspection plans and revising previous inspection plans to adhere to Shield AI QA standard. QET’s will NOT own creating inspection plans for new parts or part revisions (unless approved by a QE). Below is a high-level overview of inspection plan guidelines.
- QET will edit existing inspection plans.
- QET will respond to inspector requests for inspection plan edits and confirm edit is necessary per part drawing.
- Draft vs Released – QET’s will switch inspection into “Draft” mode for editing. QET’s will NOT Release inspection plans.
- Images must be added with in depth inspection instructions.
- QET will notify QE of Inspection revision and request approval for release.
- Reason for Change – QET will provide reason for change and specific line items they have edited to QE.
Calibration and Tooling- Quality engineering technicians are tasked with the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment and tooling in their respective assembly lines. QET’s will perform tooling and station audits and record nonconformances for tooling misplacement/mishandling. Nonconformances will be reviewed with QE during QE Gemba. This ensures the accuracy and reliability of measurements and assembly, contributing to the overall precision of the quality assurance process.
NCR- QET’s will be the first response from Quality to issues found in production. QET’s will adhere to a 5-minute escalation strategy outlined below for issue escalation. For lower severity and non-recurring issues, QET’s will own NCR investigation and disposition over issues caused/found by/in their respective lines. QET’s will root cause issues and drive corrective and preventative action (CAPA) and escalate to QE if any cross-functional impacting change is involved. If safety/flight critical or re-occurring issue is identified, QET will notify QE immediately.
Shop Floor Containment- In the event of re-occurring or severe issues, QET will notify QE of issue and perform shop floor containment. QET will perform a walk-back to identify and document affected units in production and establish a “gate-check” inspection as early in the production process for the part as possible.
