Junior Full Stack Engineer

DrDoctorLondon, England, United KingdomOnsite

Description

We are on the lookout for a Junior Full Stack (.NET C#) Engineer to join our team. You'll be a core member of the team delivering new functionality for our products, continuously improving our tech stack, and fully involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle.

OK, that’s me, but who are DrDoctor?

Take a look at our careers page (https://apply.workable.com/drdoctor/#jobs) to find out a bit more about our mission, vision, and impact! Ultimately, we :green_heart: the NHS and want to help it work better. We radically transform the delivery of health services to make healthcare work for everyone – for patients, doctors, administrative teams and taxpayers.

Tell me more! Who will I be working with?

In this role you really will interact with every part of the business, especially as we grow. Meet Kirsty, one of the Engineers who you'd work with on a daily basis - "Hi, I’m Kirsty and I've been with DrDoctor for just over a year as a Full Stack Developer. I enjoy working for DrDoctor as I can see how my work benefits patients and NHS staff and this keeps me motivated. The culture at DrDoctor is great! There are opportunities to meet people outside of your direct team such as the company wide all hands and product away days which are always loads of fun.

The leadership team are open and honest which is refreshing. I feel very supported when it comes to my career growth, my manager checks in with me regularly about my goals and helps me to improve. I've also recently been paired up with a mentor. I look forward to working with you!"

What would I be doing day to day?

One of the great things about a scale-up is that every day is different and there is always an opportunity to get involved in something outside of your ‘BAU’! However, the key things you could expect would include:

  • Working as part of the Pod to develop our product suite

  • Being actively involved in every stage of the software development lifecycle
  • Supporting our products
  • Active involvement in guild objectives across all development teams
  • Adding to the feedback culture at DrDoctor

OK, I’m interested. What experience do I need to have?

Must haves:

  • .NET C# development
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and JS
  • SMSS (SQL server management studio)
  • Working knowledge of the different types of testing (unit, integrations, e2e, system, etc)
  • Experience in software delivery (build and deployment)
  • Familiarity with version control (Git)

Nice to haves:

  • Front-end development using Vue.js
  • Automated testing and CI/CD practices
  • Exposure to Azure
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
  • RabbitMQ experience or Docker experience
  • Working within an Agile environment

We know from research and experience that candidates may not apply if they don’t think they meet 100% of our requirements. If you don’t tick all the boxes but feel you would be a good fit, we would still love to hear from you. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive culture!

We are perfect for each other, what are the next steps?

We are currently recruiting heavily and have a lot of CVs to go through.  However, we don’t wait for roles to close before going through your CV. We will be in touch in a few days to let you know if we think we might be a match, and if we are not.  Unfortunately, because we get so many CV’s we are not able to send a personalised reply if it’s not a match. However, if you want more details as to why, just drop us a note and we will arrange to get some feedback over to you. If it’s a match, then we will arrange a time to talk to you on a quick 30 minute call.

It’s just an informal chat so you can relax! We will tell you more about the role, the team and why you should want to join us. If we continue, then we will invite you to meet some of the team, most likely virtually. Some of our roles will also be subject to completing an assessment or a role related exercise and a final cultural interview. We get there are a lot of great roles out there, so we will make sure to get through the rounds as quickly as possible. All we ask is you keep us up to date with your plans.

I can’t wait to get started, what are the perks?

An awesome team and mission? Oh, you want more? We keep all of our Perks and Benefits updated on our careers page https://apply.workable.com/drdoctor/#jobs – we like to think there is something for everyone! Let us know if you have any questions regarding them. As DrDoctor has grown, we are seeing more of our people wanting to socialise in different ways. Whilst we know that some of us love to go to the pub, we want to make sure we are including a wide variety of activities and events for our teams to enjoy each other's company, we aim to continue creating an open space for anyone and everyone to suggest how they’d like to spend time with their teams. We love a Summer and Christmas party and regular company/team socials and away days.

In the past year or so, we have enjoyed picnics at a nearby farm, a water colouring session, board games evening and Crystal Maze! So far in 2023 we have held various events for celebrations such as Holi Festival, International Women’s Day, Pancake Day and Pride celebrations and our 11th Birthday!  Salary banding for this role is: £39,000 - £54,000#LI-Hybrid

Life at DrDoctor

DrDoctor puts patients in control of their healthcare, whilst maximising valuable NHS resources. By harnessing the power of the web, smartphones and SMS, patients can choose and reschedule their appointment times, feedback on services and learn more about what to expect from clinics. Cancellations are automatically refilled using a proprietary algorithm presented to the patient. Reminder messages increase the likelihood of attendance - 1 in 10 patients don't attend their appointments – which costs the NHS £900 million a year. The outcome of using DrDoctor is more efficient clinics, a cost saving to hospitals and a much better experience for patients.
