We are backed by Greylock Partners and Sequoia Capital, and headquartered in San Mateo, CA with offices in Boston, MA and London, UK and remote employees throughout the US.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYThe systems engineering team owns the C++ services that form the lower levels of our stack, including data indexing and storage, SQL compiler and optimizer and query execution engine.
We ensure that Rockset can handle increasingly demanding customer workloads reliably and efficiently.
You will:
- Contribute to an architecture that anticipates large deployments and can handle scale
- Have a lot of influence over the system we are creating
- Take ownership of projects, drive design decisions and build scalable and stable systems
- Identify and implement new performance optimizations
- Collaborate with engineers from other teams, product managers and other functional teams (in English)
- Be mentored and work alongside industry experts who built critical infrastructure at Meta, Google and Yahoo
You'd be a great fit if you are:

- Passionate about distributed systems, database technologies, and highly scalable services
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Willing to learn new skills and technologies. We use a variety of open source and commercial technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Zookeeper, Redis, Prometheus, Grafana, Terraform, RocksDB and FoundationDB (no experience required)
- Attentive to details and comfortable with ambiguity
It would be even more awesome if you also have:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Professional experience in software development shipping production code
- C++ experience. Java and/or Python is a plus
- Experience building, testing and deploying microservices
- Experience with Linux, containers and Kubernetes
- Strong communication skills
