This individual will own the overall strategy, execution, and management of our largest event sponsorship investments, and our large-scale hosted event programs and create a central repository for repeatable, national regional marketing roadshows.

The scope of the role includes strategy, planning, budget, execution, partner sponsorships, content/themes, supplier/vendor management, and post-event review/reporting.This role is for you if you are someone who not only has an unmatched passion for events marketing, but also understands how events contribute to the goals of connecting people, raising brand awareness, engaging with customers and prospective customers, and most importantly, generating/influencing pipeline.This position reports to the Director, Regional Marketing (Americas). Although the role is fully remote the desired location of this individual will be in the Bay Area.

What you'll do:


  • First and foremost, you’re up for the challenge of executing best-in-class events to drive millions in pipeline, accounting for roughly 20% of marketing targets.
  • Driving overall event strategy for both major industry events and company-hosted events, including assessing how events should fall into the overall marketing mix.
  • Maintain events calendar and manage the budget for all hosted and national third-party events to closely align with the company’s quarterly and annual themes and objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Facilitate pre-event planning and prep meetings with various stakeholders from marketing, sales, and product.
  • Coordinate with leadership to complete comprehensive event plans and project deliverables; A clear understanding and articulation of each event, its unique market position, and target audiences is key.
  • Clearly articulate event goals and obsess over post-event review for continuous learning.
  • Coordinate event logistics and onsite event support; where necessary, provide virtual event support for onsite team/staff.
  • Collaborate with the brand design team to create best-in-class event booth designs that draw crowds and align with the company’s brand strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with the regional marketing team to support strategic partner and industry-specific events including ancillary events, executive meetings, onsite execution, and sales enablement.
  • Identify and coordinate with potential speakers (e.g., internal, customers, thought leaders) for event panel and speaking session opportunities; the ability to storytell and assist with content creation is a must.
  • Work with marketing operations to create and regularly review reports and have a deep understanding of marketing funnel success metrics (e.g., MQLs, SQLs, SALs, pipeline, closed revenue) for all events; You will have plenty of support for reporting, but a high level of fluency with numbers and reporting is critical to success.
  • Facilitate gathering feedback from cross-functional partners and evaluate all event outcomes to provide post-event ROI analysis.
  • For Alation-owned events, research, and secure venues, negotiate contracts, and compare costs to make quick yet calculated decisions.
  • Align with the regional marketing team to co-create a comprehensive sales enablement playbook for each event to drive success and adoption/promotion.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of events.

You should have:


  • A positive attitude, a team player mentality, and an unmatched love and enthusiasm for all things events.
  • 8+ years planning and executing third-party and hosted events, preferably for a high-growth B2B company.
  • A demand generation mindset for event assessment, planning, and execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or relevant experience; event certifications (CMP, CTSM, DES, etc.) are a plus.
  • Experience owning 7 figure budgets and hundreds of millions in pipeline.
  • Experience communicating with and presenting to senior executives, VIPs, customers, and partners.
  • Deep understanding of working with partners to secure event sponsorships.
  • Outstanding skills in problem-solving, project management, creative thinking, written/verbal communication, and presenting.
  • A self-starter mentality with impeccable organization and a strong attention to detail.
  • A proven track record of hitting deadlines, managing multiple projects concurrently, and managing shifting priorities.
  • Ability to travel to events and customer sites as needed, as much as 40% of the time.
  • Ability to travel domestically in the US as well as internationally and possess all necessary paperwork (ex: ID card, driver's license, passport, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Asana, Tableau, Salesforce, Briefing Source, Goldcast, and Splash is a plus.

$123,000 - $160,000 a yearThe base salary range is specific to the United States.  The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty, and training.  If the final candidate has a different level of experience, the base salary target range may be lower or higher than what is published.#LI-KS1#LI-RemoteMore About AlationOur founders have come together from different backgrounds: business, engineering, and design.
