Job Description
Optimus seeks an organized, detail-oriented Procurement Manager based in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a full time (40-50 hours per week) salaried position ($110,400-$146,400) with benefits. This position is ideal for candidates with extensive experience in heavy automotive vendor relations, supply chain management, and shipping regulations. There is a travel requirement of approximately 5-10% of work time in order to manage and audit new and existing vendors. The position requires significant collaboration with engineering team members, as well as working closely with our field operations and customer success teams. Responsibilities
Reports to the Director/VP of Production. The Procurement Manager plays a crucial role in the development of Optimus’ product hardware.
Track the BOMs cost for identified components as the project progresses to commercialization.
Work closely with the legal department to ensure contracts and vendor terms are favorable and within company boundaries.
Conduct cost analysis measures to set benchmarks for costing and product improvement.
Develop risk management procedures to reduce losses with respect to product shortages.
Prepare instructions and processes as needed regarding purchasing systems.
Reviews, understands, and communicates actions required with vendor contracts to ensure uninterrupted, continuous operations at the highest level of service and lowest price.
Create and manage preferred vendor list for designated direct and other materials.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years of Procurement experience working in an Automotive OEM or other high-tech manufacturing industry.
Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or another related field
Familiarity with key legal terms in negotiation relating to development and production agreements.
Understanding of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Automotive Advance Product Quality (APQP) procedures and guidelines.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and skills.
Ability to apply concepts relating to algebra and geometry.
