Job Description
Optimus seeks an organized, detail oriented Mechanical Engineering Associate based in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a full time (35-50 hours per week) salaried position ($72,000-$78,000) with benefits. This position is ideal for candidates recently graduated and looking for a strong start to their new career path. There is a travel requirement of approximately 50% of work time in order to gain an intimate understanding of the practical application and long-term operation of the Vector System. The position requires significant collaboration with other electrical & mechanical engineering team members, as well as working closely with our hands on technicians and third-party mechanics to support customer implementation across fleet applications. Responsibilities
Design and development of a variety of Vector System components through system implementation, manufacturing, and production.
Utilize OEM & internally developed data to incorporate into component design
Support installation and ongoing upgrades/troubleshooting by traveling to clients’ locations for physical implementation
Coordinate and exchange technical information with peers and pertinent third-party vendors
Use of critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Participate in design review meetings and conference calls with manufacturers, subcontractors, and vendors
Complete all project and design documentation for inclusion in installation manuals and product materials
Read, interpret, and utilize appropriate technical drawings, schematics, electrical diagrams, and manuals to complete component design
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university
1-3 years of mechanical engineering experience; experience in an industrial product design and manufacturing company a plus
Aptitude for mechanical and electrical systems preferred; heavy-duty diesel engine knowledge a plus
Ability to comprehend detailed product schematics and documentation
Proficient computer skills, especially with AutoDesk, AutoCad, Solidworks, and Inventor, and the ability to learn additional software programs as necessary
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability and willingness to work with other team members to solve problems
Proven ability to work independently and under pressure with little to no supervision when necessary
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills in prioritizing, scheduling, and time management
