Position Overview
Working as part of a larger team of solution architects and project managers, the implementation engineer is responsible for handling all the technical issues/topics encountered in the day-to-day requirements of designing, demonstrating, and implementing the products from the e2open portfolio.We utilize a number of technologies including some of the usual technology stack for storage and application programming (i.e. Oracle and Java, respectively) and a number of web technology tools and libraries (e.g.
JSPs, Struts, jQuery, Navigator) on the front end of our applications. For systems integration, many protocols are used to facilitate connecting with our customers including web services and a multitude of transfer protocols (JSON, SFTP, AS2, queues, etc...). This means our engineers have the opportunity to learn and apply skills in everything from interface development to back end business logic.
Responsibilities
- Works with a designated project manager, project team members, clients/users and colleagues to design, test and deploy integrated solutions, using Company tools.
- Responsible for architecting and supporting implementing various functional modules in an enterprise product.
- Define, prototype and recommend the technology solutions, detailing the implementation design and identifying interfaces with other products for integration.
- Abreast of latest technologies & tools and ability to evaluate and select appropriate tools and technologies as per the requirements.
- Apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope requiring in-depth evaluation.
- Work collaboratively within a team of engineers and have strong influencing and leadership skills
- Be the technical evangelist for the project and provide technical leadership to project teams and stakeholders
- This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, technology savvy, driven to produce results and demonstrates the ability to take a cross-team leadership role
- Oversee, develop, and implement holistic solution architectures for homogenous problem domains from both a business and technical perspective
- Performs solution definition of a problem domain. Designs overall system and solution architecture, system integration, and implementation strategy
- Generates conceptual/logical architectures, system documents, testing analyzes, test plans, and risk assessments
- Drives development standards and processes for the Professional Services Organization, but also to challenge and improve where necessary
- Should participate in engineering audits, design reviews/Code reviews and troubleshooting within and outside project team
- Knowledge in Security, Performance Engineering
- Should have excellent attention to high quality
- Preparing and maintaining the necessary technical documents.
- Technical implementation work, including but not excluded to:
- Application of software and database patches
- Configuration of middleware layer
- Resolve connectivity issues
- Design and development of data interfaces between systems
- Master Data loading as part of project configuration
- Interface definition, customization, setup, testing and support
- Attend client/user meetings and presents issues and solutions both verbally and in writing.
- Able to drive On Site workshops with potential and existing clients to discuss architecture and technical design.
- Handle multiple assignments/projects simultaneously
- Keep fully abreast of new releases, functionality and be able to demonstrate same.
- Keeps up-to-date with advances, approaches, techniques and technologies etc. as they relate to the role.
Qualifications and Experiences
- Minimum of 4 year Technical Degree
- 10+ years development experience (preferably in Java based technologies)
- Minimum 2+ project implementation experience as engineering lead (approx. 2+ years lead experience)
- Hands-on experience with Jasper/I net Crystal Clear Reports
- Familiarity with one or more internet infrastructure technologies such as Crystal Reports, Java, XML, XSLT, Unix, Linux and Enterprise Service Business Solutions etc. will be an added advantage.
- Web development skills including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON
- Exposure working directly with customer in professional services capacity.
- Understanding of databases (Oracle a plus). Extensive SQL experience.
- Experience integrating systems, parsing data from files into application objects and vice versa (exposure to JSON & XML)
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal) both remotely and face-to-face. Strong English speaking/writing skills.
- Ability to listen and interpret customer queries. Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as an individual and team contributor. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Should be capable to mentor and monitor the team.
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems
- Understanding of XML data structures; ability to write and interrogate XML/XSD
- Familiarity with one of more of the following tool: Eclipse, Mercurial, Subversion
- Experience of data loading using SQL/Loader and/or creating bespoke upload/update scripts
- Understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems
- Understanding of XML data structures; ability to write and interrogate XML/XSD
- Having SCM, logistics or Transportation industry knowledge is desirable.
- Prepared to work out of normal working hours when required
Physical Requirements:
- General office and / or home office responsibilities
- Extensive keyboarding and looking at a computer monitor
- Short term travel based on project demand.
