The Role


The Business Development Representative is responsible for identifying, qualifying and developing new business opportunities for TruckSmarter’s growing factoring business. This role requires excellent communication, organization and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment.  As a Business Development Representative, you will work closely with our outbound sales teams and play a critical part of our ability to identify, qualify and serve our customers. This role is a great opportunity for phone-based sales associates with a competitive spirit and eagerness to learn about TruckSmarter’s fast growing product set and the freight landscape to develop their sales and tech careers.

You’ll be a part of a team that is evolving every day and requires highly motivated individuals who are responsible for driving revenue through strategic outreach and relationship building. If you're a self-starter and looking to grow your sales career, this role is a great fit for you.The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:


  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $40,000 - $50,000. However, because this role is eligible to participate in TruckSmarter's commission plan, it is common for employees in this role to receive total on-target earnings of $55,000-70,000.

  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in TruckSmarter's equity plan.

Responsibilities: 



  • Identify and qualify new prospective clients to fuel the pipeline for Sales Development Representatives

  • Stay up-to-date on logistics industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to factoring and alternative financing solutions

  • Manage, track, and report on all sales activities and results using Salesforce

  • Hit assigned Key Performance Metrics specific to this role and the broader success of the Sales teams

  • Collaborate with the Sales Development Representatives and Sales Operations teams to refine outreach strategies and identify opportunities to improve conversion and drive growth

  • Develop efficient and repeatable methods for reaching the decision-makers at those prospective new accounts

Requirements: 



  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field 

  • 1+ years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in the logistics or financial services industry

  • 1+ years of experience cold-calling sales/business development experience

  • Experience using a CRM (ex: Salesforce) to handle daily activities and manage customer outreach

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle time efficiently

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including a strong phone presence

  • Ability to work well in a high-energy, high-paced team environment

  • Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and operate in ambiguity

  • Ability to adapt, grow and evolve, overcoming roadblocks and quickly moving from own prospect to the next Compensation:$55.000 - $70.000
