We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Merchandise Planner to join our dynamic team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for managing our inventory levels, ensuring that we have the right products in the right quantities at the right time. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in optimizing our inventory investment and minimizing overstock situations. By owning the open-to-buy process, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align inventory plans with financial goals and market demands.

Responsibilities


Ownership of Open-to-Buy (OTB)- Develop and maintain the open-to-buy (OTB) process to manage inventory levels effectively, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.- Analyze historical data and current trends to forecast sales and inventory requirements, adjusting OTB as necessary to respond to changing market conditions.Inventory Planning and Management- Create and execute detailed merchandise plans for each category, considering sales trends, seasonal fluctuations, and promotional activities.- Monitor inventory levels in real-time, identifying potential stock shortages or excesses and taking proactive steps to address them.Collaboration and Cross-Functional Partnership- Work closely with the buying and merchandising teams to align purchase plans with inventory strategies, ensuring a cohesive approach to product assortment and stock levels.- Partner with the finance team to reconcile inventory plans with budgetary constraints, optimizing for profitability and cash flow.

Requirements


Technical Skills- Proven experience in merchandise planning, inventory management, or a related field, with a strong understanding of retail math and inventory planning concepts.- Proficiency in inventory management software and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and forecasting.- Ability to interpret and analyze sales data to inform purchasing decisions and inventory strategies.Soft Skills- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and departments.- Adaptability and flexibility to respond quickly to changing market conditions and business needs.Mentality- A proactive and strategic thinker, with a focus on continuous improvement and optimization of inventory processes.- A results-driven mindset, with a commitment to achieving financial goals and maximizing inventory efficiency.- A team player, dedicated to contributing to the overall success of the organization through effective merchandise planning.This role is ideal for an individual passionate about balancing operational efficiency with financial objectives, eager to make a significant impact in a fast-paced retail environment.
