About us
We are searching for talented individuals who are driven to tackle the most ambitious goal of our time - building the computer hardware that enables the development of safe artificial general intelligence. See more at fathomradiant.co/aboutusIn our people, we above all value kindness, a scout mindset, a focus on improvement, and prioritising to get the right things done. We aim to help build one of the most transformative technologies in the world, with massive social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we are actively striving to have a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
This roleWe are searching for experienced Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineers, focusing on the cutting edge of SerDes and high-speed data communication technologies for System on Chip (SoC) applications. Ideal candidates are those who possess a robust understanding of IC design fundamentals, previous hands-on experience with FinFET nodes and communication electronics, and who have a keen interest in the forefront of high-performance computing and AI, including neural networks and machine learning hardware. You will work with an experienced team of IC engineers that collaborates with colleagues from other disciplines (e.g.
optics, materials science, nano-fabrication) to design and implement aggressive optoelectronic hardware systems.
Areas of contribution
- Design and implement analog and mixed-signal circuits for high speed electrical and optical data communication. Example blocks include transmit drivers, receive preamplifiers, VGA, CTLE, FFE, DFE, CDR, PLL, DLL, algorithmic processing and control, clock distribution, and power management.
- Innovate solutions that focus on enhancing the performance, efficiency, and cost profile of high-speed data transmission for data center networking fabrics.
- Play a pivotal role in the development and stewardship of full network fabric solutions including definition of specifications, system- and chip-level architecture, power and performance budgets, thermal solutions, serviceability, etc.
Requirements (necessary skills for this role)
- MS/PhD in EE with a focus on analog/RF/mixed-signal integrated circuit design or equivalent experience
- Passion, drive, and excitement to build new things and solve seemingly impossible problems
- Deep experience designing circuits and systems for high speed data communication
- Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools for IC design with a strong understanding of their underlying operation
- Broad experience and involvement in multiple IC designs through conceptualization to specification definition to tapeout and testing including block-level circuit design and full chip architecture, integration, and verification
- Understanding of the digital design flow and exposure to RTL design and synthesis
- Ability to perform comprehensive laboratory bringup, testing, and characterization
- Collegiality and teamwork supported by exceptional individual contributions
- Strong project planning, organizational, and communication skills
- Willingness and ability to collaborate on complex cross-disciplinary projects
Nice-to-haves (we will prioritize candidates that also have these skills):
- Proven track record of delivering complex SoC solutions
- Experience with advanced chip packaging and high speed PCB design
- Knowledge of high-speed communication standards and interfaces such as HBM, PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, etc.
