Learn more about Life at GitLab.GitLab is building observability into its DevOps Platform. It will be fully integrated and on-by-default for all GitLab customers. As a Fullstack Engineer on the Observability team, you’ll collaborate on building UIs and backend APIs for our new Monitoring and Observability features.
You’ll work closely with customers and operate the code you write. You will help bridge the gap between expensive SaaS vendors and difficult DIY projects. There’s a lot to do and learn.
Some things you may work on:
- Developing Javascript UI and Ruby on Rails Fullstack components and visualizations for tracing, logging, metrics
- Creating a consistent user experience across monitoring features
- Collaborate with Product Management and other stakeholders within Engineering (e.g. UX) to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment
- Craft code that meets standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
- Working with other GitLab teams to help them integrate monitoring features into their product areas
Essential skills:
- Strong experience with VueJS or another modern JavaScript web framework (Angular, Ember, etc.)
- Experience with Ruby and Rails
- Experience working with Grafana, Data Visualisation, Single Page Application Development.
- Experience with writing automated tests (e.g. Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, AVA, tape)
- Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment
- A solid understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts.
Nice to have:
- GCP and/or AWS experience
- Experience operating a managed Kubernetes cluster (ex. GKE or EKS)
- Experience with Cortex, Thanos, Jaeger, or other similar open source observability systems
