In this role, you will


  • Fulfill a dual role as both an individual contributor and a leader and mentor for members of the Animation team
  • Maintain a world-class animation team by working closely with talents to form a well-rounded, high-performing group of animators and foster the development of a robust knowledge base among team members to guide their career growth and advancement
  • Act as the guardian of quality and authenticity in the style and feel of Fortnite’s animation and collaborate closely with Producers, Designers, Engineers, and Artists to actualize the game vision including providing time estimates for project planning, assessing coverage needs, and determining the quantity required for our animation pipelines
  • Stay informed about and evaluate new technologies and techniques in the industry for potential application in the game and advocate for the development of tools to optimize processes and workflows
  • Manage and contribute to maintaining positive morale and a healthy team culture

What we're looking for


  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant animation experience
  • Team Lead experience on at least one AAA title
  • Strong proficiency in Maya and Unreal Engine
  • In-depth knowledge of Maya's rigging tools and animation workflows
  • Expertise in art pipelines, dependencies, and project scope
  • Familiarity with directing and editing motion and performance capture
  • Portfolio showcasing relevant animation experience in games and/or film
  • Deep understanding of animation workflows and rigging for Unreal Engine
  • Strong communication skills with a grasp of various art disciplines (animation, character, environment, VFX)
  • Familiarity with game engines, art integration pipelines, and optimization techniques

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).California Base Pay Range$229,576—$336,711 USDWashington Base Pay Range$224,793—$329,696 USD
