As a part of the Lightspeed
Data Platform department, you will contribute by reinforcing the software development standards and Data Practices at Lightspeed. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new features, extending the functionality of our internal data products and developing and managing related infrastructure components.
For this role, you need to be working from the Montreal office on a Hybrid basis.
Role:
- Develop clean, well-designed, highly maintainable code and services to create or extend the functionality of our products.
- Draft, discuss & implement technical designs that solve business problems for our customers.
- Share responsibility for the operation of the product in production.
- Participate in a 24-hour pager duty rotation.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations.
- Extend your own skills by learning from and growing with the team.
- Participate in development planning, retrospectives and demos.
- Drive and own the technical challenges in the team.
- Act as an advocate for the highest code quality and ownership while contributing to the health of the infrastructure.
- Report to the Team Lead of Development and have frequent interactions with product managers, designers, developers and stakeholders as part of a cross-functional team to deliver product features and functionality.
- Be part of defining the product transformation as Lightspeed evolves its offerings to merchants & consumers globally.
And a little bit of:
- Fixing critical bugs
- Provide timely assistance and remediation solutions during critical situations and production incidents to help resolve service problems (be on call for periods of time)
- Collaboration with multiple teams and stakeholders to achieve the technical objectives.
- Sharing knowledge and best practices with the team.
- Contributing as part of the wider team to achieve organizational objectives even if this means doing things that aren’t strictly within the scope of your role.
What you will be doing:
- Develop clean, well-designed, highly maintainable code.
- Showed ability to focus on deliverables and meet scheduled deadlines.
- Through your expert knowledge, experience and ability to architect systems, you can represent the team at technical meetings without other team members present by demonstrating ownership of their team’s technical domain.
What you will bring to the table:
- 5+ years of commercial experience as a Software Developer.
- 5+ year of experience with Java application development
- 3+ years of experience with Javascript/Typescript
- Strong knowledge of CS/IT (Code Design patterns, Data structures, System Design Patterns)
- Strong knowledge in software development lifecycles, coding standards, source control management, code reviews, build processes, testing, and monitoring.Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructures & infrastructure management frameworks as a plus.
- Experience in web technologies, relational databases, and distributed systems.
