What we are looking for
AscellaHealth is seeking a Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist who will be responsible for all aspects of employee payroll and benefits administration. We are looking for someone who will oversee the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Additionally, they will manage the benefits payment processing for the organization. This position will be hybrid with 3 days in our Berwyn office expected per week.
What the position will be doing
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, transfers, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Resolve any payroll or benefit issues or discrepancies.
- Prepare, record, and maintain accurate records and reports of all payroll transactions.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Work with ADP to ensure all required payroll-related documentation to vendors and Federal and State reporting agencies comply with laws and regulations (Unemployment wage reporting, W-2 process and reporting, etc.).
- Verify the accuracy of monthly employee benefits premiums and maintain data to track, verify, and analyze employee benefits-related costs and claim activities.
- Ensure all benefits bills are paid timely and all billing discrepancies are resolved.
- Coordinate with the HR business partner to correct any data discrepancies within ADP Workforce Now.
- Prepare weekly, quarterly, and yearly reports for review.
- Maintain the confidentiality of employee data and financial information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as necessary; demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in work schedules/and work assignments driven by departmental and organizational needs.
Necessary Skills, Education & Abilities
- A bachelor's degree is required, ideally with a field of study in Accounting, Finance, or a business-related field.
- 3 or more years of experience with payroll and benefits management.
- Proven experience with Payroll and Time and Attendance software (ADP, Workday, etc.)
- Familiarity with the state and federal payroll tax rules and regulations
- Possess a strong work ethic and the ability to treat sensitive information in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates ability to problem solve and document processes for consistency and improvement,
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Exceptional proficiency working with Excel, including working with pivot tables, formulas, and VLOOKUPS.
- Ability to communicate in multiple mediums with all levels within an organization and with clients and customers.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing processes and procedures within a growing company.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide solutions to complex problems.
