Cost ContainmentPosition SummaryAt ParetoHealth, our mission is two-fold: we help make self-insurance accessible and less volatile for small to medium-sized employers and then help reduce the cost of healthcare with targeted cost containment solutions and services. We are looking for a dynamic, creative, and resourceful Vice President of Strategy & Business Development to join the Cost Containment team and drive the second part of our mission forward. A successful candidate will be a self-starter and team player who takes initiative, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited to join a team on a journey to transform healthcare benefits for small to medium-sized employers and their employees.
This high-impact role is responsible for helping to shape and drive Pareto’s cost containment agenda, with a focus on expansion of our point solution and strategic partner portfolio based on data-driven insights, to reduce the cost of healthcare for Pareto’s rapidly growing population. Responsible for identifying, cultivating, and managing the full lifecycle of partnerships, this role is integral to driving innovation at scale while also creating and preserving differentiation and value for Pareto and other relevant stakeholders. Reporting to the EVP of Cost Containment, this position will work cross-functionally with other business unit leaders to drive activation of recommended solutions.Responsibilities
- Analyze spend data and build business cases to validate and prioritize cost containment initiatives and partnerships to deliver business outcomes and reduce risk of catastrophic claims
- Develop and execute on strategic partnerships/BD and implementation plans, including involvement/dedication of the appropriate cross-functional, shared resources
- Monitor and advise on industry trends, including healthcare tech and innovation, competitor products, progressive payment strategies, and pharmacy spend management to drive recommendations for portfolio expansion
- Leverage your proven experience to assist in the identification, evaluation, and implementation of new cost containment point solutions
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with strategic partners, understanding their unique needs and challenges to drive engagement and identify growth opportunities
- Serve as a strong representative of ParetoHealth in the marketplace, attending industry events, conferences, and forums to build brand awareness and establish Pareto as an industry leader
- Own and lead the due diligence process, including coordinating external advisors, consolidating information, analyzing diligence findings, and identifying potential risks, implications, and interrelations of findings with business case assumptions and internal and external resource needs
- Develop proposed deal architecture and terms, and lead negotiations of term sheets and agreements with potential partners in collaboration with legal, tech, and finance
- Anticipate internal resource needs for optimal adoption and engagement of point solutions and partnerships, including technical integrations and internal and external dependencies, partnering closely with internal partners to deliver
- Identify and pursue opportunities to leverage ParetoHealth cost management platforms to create new business opportunities
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of cost containment initiatives, using data-driven insights to inform decisions and optimize results
- Support go to market team and develop and foster relationships with benefits consultants and other channel partners as the primary conduit to the small to medium-sized, self-funded employer market, soliciting feedback for our product roadmap
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years work experience in corporate strategy and business development, management consulting, and financial analysis (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
- Background working in a healthcare-related field preferred
- Experience with analyzing healthcare data from various sources, including claims data
- Strategic thinker that is continuously looking to drive toward strong and higher performing partnerships
- Comfortable working with the ambiguity of a fast-paced, growing company - ability to innovate, and solve problems creatively
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to use data to inform and drive decision making
- Strong program management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communications with strong executive presence and aptitude to represent the Cost Containment team and company to internal and external stakeholders
