Description:
Braskem, a global leader in the production of bio-based materials, has recently opened a new renewable research and development facility in Lexington, MA. This new 35,000 SFT facility will bring together scientists and engineers from a variety of disciplines to ideate and develop novel technologies for the production of bio-based chemicals and materials.Braskem America is seeking an exceptional, highly motivated laboratory technician to help startup and maintain Braskem’s new Renewable Innovation Center in Lexington, MA.
The successful candidate will work together with the facilities manager and laboratory supervisor to maintain a safe, efficient, and healthy laboratory environment. Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills are essential.The ideal candidate will be responsible for working collaboratively with the laboratory supervisor to maintaining a safe and well-organized laboratory. Key responsibilities include assisting with shipping and receiving, stocking and tracking of chemicals and consumables, glassware washing, media and reagent prep, chemical and biological waste accumulation and disposal, and other lab-related tasks.
Additional Responsibilities and Activities Include:
- Act as a contributing member of the laboratory safety committee together with the laboratory supervisor and technical team members.
- Support in the implementation, and ongoing application of a chemical hygiene and safety plan.
- Support technical team members in setting up and commissioning new laboratory equipment.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience working in and maintaining a safe and well-organized biotechnology and/or renewable laboratory environment. Experience with the safe handling of laboratory chemicals and waste streams is a must.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
- 0-5 years of experience working in a biotechnology and/or chemical laboratory.
- Must be highly motivated with exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Benchling, SAP, Coupa, and other software systems is a plus.
- Experience formulating microbial growth media is a plus.
