We have an upcoming Summer Internship for Quality Engineer Intern 


This is a paid internship.


Overview of the role:


The Quality Engineering intern will be accountable for creating and implementing Quality System improvements for but not limited to incoming materials inspection, sampling plans for raw materials and finished goods, process mapping and risk mitigation efforts, calibration, measurement system evaluation, data collection and analysis for the Lititz facility. Intern will be trained in several Lean Sigma tools to apply on their projects/activities while at Woodstream. 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


  • Flex time between shifts as needed to complete the assigned task/projects. 
  • Ability to work independently to build their project teams to assemble work content, create, and publish inspection and process documentation work instructions, standard operating procedures etc.) as per Engineering standards and protocols. 
  • Receive training and apply the following Lean Sigma tools but not limited to - control charts, statistical testing, sample calculation, process mapping, failure modes and effects analysis, 5S, poke a yoke etc.
  • Assist engineers and technicians in their projects, as well as your own assigned projects, maintaining sharp focus on schedule, scope, and budget. 
  • Develop and lead project teams comprised of quality, engineering, maintenance personnel to meet project objectives in alignment with our Quality Management system
  • Design, implement, report out project status as required. 
  • Work with all personnel in a pleasant and productive manner that contributes to the overall success of the plant. 
  • Any other quality engineering functions as assigned by the Manager. 
  • Collect, sort, and analyze data.
  • Utilize inspection equipment and measurement tools.
  • Learn and complete technician inspection duties to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Compile lists and log inventory of equipment and generate calibration procedures and frequency.
  • Participate in supplier visit, process audit, and data collection/reporting with or under the direction of Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Successful Candidate Profile:


  • Active pursuit of bachelor’s degree in some form of Engineering at an accredited college/university. 
  • Starting your 2nd or 3rd yr. of their BSE degree
  • Highly motivated hands-on problem solver
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
  • Skill in using computer software, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook. AutoCAD, MS Access & Visio as well as statistical (Minitab) programs are a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to meet deadlines.
  • Quickly responds/adapts to change in an environment, deals with interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Willingness to learn practical application of engineering knowledge/skills.

Woodstream has grown dramatically over the past five years and expects continued growth.  The Lititz facility is expanding the Quality function/team to enhance our Quality Management System via the establishment of a calibration system, receiving inspection practices and data analytics to identify/improve productivity, reduce defects & costs and transform our culture to drive for continuous improvement.
