Expedient is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Backups Engineer with a strong background in the Commvault and/or Cohesity platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our organization's backup systems to ensure the safety and integrity of our data.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design, implement, and manage the organization's backup and recovery strategies using Data Protection software.
  • Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures, ensuring all required file systems and data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
  • Monitor the performance of backup processes, identifying problems and implementing solutions to ensure the effectiveness of backups.
  • Conduct regular audits of backup and recovery procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to backup and recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with Support and Delivery functions to ensure seamless and efficient data protection and recovery of client data across all platforms and systems.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on backup and recovery issues to other team members.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest data protection technologies and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to backup procedures, system configuration, and recovery processes.
  • Participate in disaster recovery tests and actual events, ensuring the successful recovery of data and systems.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Backup Engineer, with a focus on Commvault or Cohesity technology.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining Commvault or Cohesity backup environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex backup issues.
  • Ability to use APIs to automate routine tasks/maintenance plans.
  • Familiarity with S3 protocol and data archiving.
  • Strong understanding of data protection regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Certifications in related technologies would be an advantage.

Salary for this position is directly based on your experience and skill set.  Estimated annual salary is $100,000 to $125,000.  This role may require availability outside of regular business hours to address urgent issues or perform system maintenance. Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings.Physical Requirements:Sitting for extended periods and working with a computer. However, it may also involve some physical activities such as lifting computer equipment.
