Technical Author

Role
The Technical Author is responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality and in-depth written content for both internal and external use. They work with various SCRUM teams to produce and style user guides and maintain internal documentation in a dynamic environment. The core skill is in the ability to help users understand how to get the best outcomes from using our software our software through written words that appear in user guides, in scripts for videos, animations & demonstrations, in the products themselves and in supporting release notes.
Responsibilities
- Develop a high level understanding of the functionality of our software and learn about new features as they are developed.
- Collaborate with SCRUM teams to understand documentation needs.
- Author technical manuals, release notes, scripts, and user guides for internal and customer use
- Work with the UX/UI Design team to create text for use within the products
- Review documentation created by the SCRUM teams
- Create and maintain templates and documentation styles and standards.
- Assist in other documentation related projects, which may include training materials or knowledgebase articles
Skills and experience
- Clear and concise writing skills; ability to convey information in a structured and logical manner.
- Experience of medium to largescale independent written projects.
- High energy level, with strong facilitation and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Interest and/or experience of the financial services industry (particularly investment banking).
- Interest and/or experience of the software development industry.
- Experience of Technical Authoring tools such as MadCapFlare
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years in a similar role in software or information services
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or a related degree
