This position is based in Germantown, Maryland and reports directly to the Group CFO / Finance Controller and is hands-on in global accounting functions. This position will be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the close process and the review and analysis of the financial statements in the U.S. Ideal candidates will be familiar with US GAAP and IFRS standards (secondary requirement)and have experience from an international company. The role serves as a critical member of accounting team of this dynamic, high-growth company.
Essential Responsibilities
The following is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and the position will perform other duties as assigned.- Review new vendor set up and existing vendor changes;- Prepare/Review journal entries and their back-ups and ensure accurate and timely period close; - Prepare/review account reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and contract expense;- Review/approve accounts payable processing;- Prepare and review financial information for semiannual and year-end audit including footnote support schedules;- Responsible for accuracy of intercompany cross charges and allocation; - Responsible for maintaining general ledger account information within accounting system;- Deal with complex accounting treatment such as lease accounting, stock compensation, and consolidation of financial statements;- Work with other accounting teams in Asia and provide support when needed.
- Work closely with payroll team to understand payroll system logic, deductions, etc. to ensure proper accounting treatment;- Work closely with FP&A to assist with explanation of variances;- Prepare ad-hoc and special projects as deemed necessary
Qualifications
·Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or a related business field;·Strongly preferred will be a candidate who is working toward and/or near completion of their CPA;·Five or more years of related experience to include US GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, internal controls, accounting systems, and financial statements analysis, with the experience dealing with intercompany accounting and consolidation;·Prior experience managing full month book-closing.·CRO/CDMO contract accounting experience preferred.·Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) experience required; ·Experience within the biotech/pharma industry is strongly preferred;·Experience in NetSuite or other similar ERP/finance system (such as Hyperion, Oracle, etc.) required, system implementation experience preferred;·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;·Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task effectively;·Strong communication skills as the role requires regular dialogue with teams in the U.S.
