Independent Software is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented
Senior Network Engineer to join our team supporting a large U. S. Government program within the National Capitol Region. Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise and support to coalition partners on network and communication systems, including hardware, software, and communications equipment.
- Provide technical assessment reports or and collect technical documentation from Combatant Commanders HQs and summarize progress of emerging projects and programs during evaluation periods.
- Aggregate technical data gathered from the technology assessment and provide recommendations to the customer to meet ad hoc requests to support data calls by leadership.
- Perform risk assessments, documenting potential risks, their probability of occurrence, and the impact to the program performance and schedule if they are not addressed.
- Recommend risk mitigation strategies for each identified risk and coordinate monthly risk management meetings with technical project managers
- Work closely with the Government in planning, analyzing, and reporting programmatic impacts on the cost, returns on investment, schedule dependencies between project and program and the contractor shall recommend function and technical solutions.
- Provide review and analysis of program/project documentation, including document cross-walks between requirements, measures, or assessment criteria and functionality to determine possible redundancies or potential issues.
- Evaluate emerging programs and projects to ensure key considerations have been adequately planned and relevant guidance has been complied with.
- Develop, monitor, and report on program metrics to include internal management controls and track actions related to a variety of project, program, or portfolio actions as necessary, providing status reports.
- Conduct assessments and analyses of existing and coalition partner network and communication systems to identify vulnerabilities, gaps, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement network and communication solutions to address the specific needs of coalition partners, such as interoperability, data sharing, network policies, procedures, security, network resources, and guidelines that align with coalition standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with coalition partners to ensure seamless integration of network and communication systems and interoperability between different technologies.
- Advise on the use of network and communication systems for command and control, logistics, intelligence, and other functions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of network and communication systems and recommend improvements or modifications as needed.
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
- Represent the coalition on network and communication issues at meetings and conferences with other organizations, including government agencies, industry partners, and academic institutions.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of emerging technologies and their potential applications to coalition operations that could benefit military operations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians within the coalition.
- Provide various reports and documents such as Monthly Status Report, After Action Report, Trip Report, Risk Assessment/ Status, White Papers, Briefings, Informational Documents, and Risk Management Plans.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in network and communication engineering, preferably in a military or government setting.
- In-depth knowledge of network and communication systems, protocols, and technologies, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VoIP, and wireless networks.
- Familiarity with military and security environment, including the organizational structures, procedures, and regulations that govern coalition operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will need to work closely with military commanders, IT staff, and coalition partners from different countries and cultures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Requires 10% travel
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong technical background in network and communication systems, cybersecurity, and protocols as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders in a coalition or multinational environment.
Required Certifications
Must maintain IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CISSP or higher)
Clearance Required: Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance to be considered for this role.
