SUMMARY
Sets up and operates a paint sprayer, blast cabinet and other equipment to apply industrial finishes on metals or products. Mixes, matches and applies paint to various surfaces, completing touchups and coordinating large painting projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ·Mixes, matches and applies paints such as epoxy, enamel, varnish, shellac, lacquers, thinners, solutions or rustproofing agents to surfaces according to specifications.·Operates a blast cabinet, cleans, scrapes, sands, primes and/or seals surfaces prior to painting to ensure proper adherence.·Tapes off areas when needed.·Applies touchups or additional coats when needed.·Checks paint mils.
(thickness) throughout painting process to establish proper coatings.·Paints by hand as required.·Monitors drying to ensure desired results.·Finishes coated surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, rouge, wax or other finishing materials.·Secures paint booth when in use.·Cleans up all equipment, including spray guns and/or brushes.·Changes paint booth filters on a regular basis.·Maintains materials, equipment and supplies in a condition that does not compromise safety.·Operates overhead crane, forklift, lift trucks or hand trucks to move items to be painted.·Operates a sandblasting cabinet.·Maintains clean and organized work area ensuring aisles, doorways, fire extinguishers, electrical panels, etc. are clear from debris and equipment.·Maintains inventory of painting supplies and requisitions materials as needed.·Assists with the packaging of skids/equipment for shipping.·Communicates with co-workers, management, customers and others in a professional and courteous manner.·Conforms to all safety rules and uses appropriate safety equipment, including respirator.

Work Environment
This job operates in an indoor shop environment where the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The temperature is usually moderate, however, the employee may occasionally be exposed to extreme cold and heat. This role routinely uses industrial painting equipment and occasionally uses forklift, ladder, hand and pneumatic tools.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to mix paint and solutions and manipulate the spray painter or other painting equipment. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear; stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of
Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Occasional overtime work may be required as job duties demand. Required Education and Experience
·High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ·Ability to read and write in English, follow verbal instructions and interpret documents such as safety rules and paint charts
