Procon Consulting is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a project in the Norfolk, VA area on a federal project. The candidate will have responsibilities that include but not limited to construction, design/build, architecture and engineering, space management and facilities management complex construction projects. This role requires 5 years of experience in electrical engineering on construction projects. The ideal candidate will posses the following skills and requirements:
Qualifications and Skills
- BS in electrical engineering / electrical engineering technology or closely related discipline from an ABET accredited institution is required.
- Thorough understanding of design criteria such as National Electrical Code (NEC), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE) and other engineering standards and building codes.
- Registered communications distribution designer (RCDD) certification is preferred.
- Licensed in Virginia as a Professional Engineer, or licensed in another state and able to obtain Virginia licensure within 12 months of employment preferred.
- Extensive knowledge in running lighting calculations quickly and accurately for exterior and interior lighting projects.
- Preferred experience designing fire alarm systems.
- Considerable experience with facilities operation, maintenance and repair in an institutional setting.
- Extensive experience in design of electrical systems.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares designs including engineering calculations, plans and specifications for minor construction and lighting projects in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for design of electrical equipment, facilities and utilities.
- The electrical engineer is responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments and managing projects.
- Performs inspections of facilities and produces inspection reports and repair recommendations.
- Develops familiarity with regulations governing the implementation and operations of these systems.
- Manages construction projects to include planning, design and construction for Maintenance Reserve and other projects.
- Interface with customers to identify project requirements and coordinate work to minimize impact to building occupants.
- Ensures projects meet agreed scope of work and that consultants/ contractors provide services as identified in plans and specifications.
- Works with Procurement Services to contract for design and construction services.
