Procon Consulting is seeking a Construction Inspector for the night shift on a project in conjunction with the federal government. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience with building security upgrades such as card readers and door upgrades. The ideal candidate will review blueprints, monitor construction progress, examine interior/exterior work, utilizing survey instruments to verify completed work, taking photographs and maintaining a log. Procon Consulting operates as an owner's representative throughout the United States for government construction projects. We specialize in capital improvement projects in government construction & engineering. All candidates must meet the following skills and qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- Must have experience with government construction or over 10 years of experience in lieu of educational requirement.
- Government or military project experience.
- Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Bachelors’ degree in Construction Management or Engineering of related industry is preferred but not required.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- OSHA 30 Hour Certification is preferred.
- QCM Certification preferred.
- Experience with Prolog Construction Management software is preferred.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Responsible for quality assurance of the overall project, including evaluating workmanship, quality of work, and inspecting work per construction documents (drawings/specifications).
- Serve as a technical specialist to the AOC’s COR/PM/CM for monitoring and evaluating the General Contractor’s (GC’s) efforts and assessing the technical progress in relation to an established schedule and resources allotted.
- Review Plans, Specifications, and Cost Estimates for technical adequacy, constructability, value engineering, and to identify errors and omissions.
- Review and evaluate progress schedules and ensure conformance to the technical documents throughout the course of construction and commissioning.
- Provide reports to the COR/PM/CM immediately upon finding work in noncompliance of applicable Codes and best practices.
- Provide recommendations for necessary changes, resolve controversial problems, ensure compliance, and provide other assistance as necessary, or as required, to mitigate known deficiencies.
- This person will perform labor standards interviews for compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act, and report findings to the COR/PM/CM.
- Review certified payrolls submitted by the GC for compliance to the Davis-Bacon Act and wage rates. Notify the COR/PM/CM if any discrepancies are found.
- This person will Establish detailed inspection requirements, schedules, and controls methods under a QA procedure.
- Inspect work done to ensure that it is in accordance with Specifications and Drawings. Prepare Progress Reports for Work performed and gathers information as needed for the COR/PM/CM.
- Interpret Contract Specifications and determines whether construction meets Contract requirements. In the case of defective workmanship or non-compliance with the Contract, coordinate with the COR/PM/CM to ensure corrective action is taken by the GC.
- Provide site photos to be uploaded daily into the AOC’s photo management software.
