OBJECTIVE
As the Safety & Security Manager, you will provide professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of all Gable environmental, health, safety and security programs. You are responsible for the overall coordination of all safety and health programs to assure regulatory compliance of applicable institutional agencies and policies. You will design and manage programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses and exposure to health hazards through safety training, planned and unplanned inspections, skill set training, first aid care, emergency preparedness, new team member orientation, job hazard analysis, and personal protective equipment.
You will help create and preserve an environment where team members, visitors, and properties are safe and secure.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Ensure we are providing a safe and secure work environment for all team members
- Developing and executing health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
- Developing and implementing security policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Complying with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Maryland Occupations Safety and Health Administration (MOSH) regulations.
- Conduct accident and incident investigations, determine probable cause, and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform self-audits/safety inspection and maintain records of results.
- Visit job sites to conduct safety audits.
- Comply with all EPA regulations both local and federal.
- Perform safety training per MOSH and OSHA regulations.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and disciplined work environment.
- Create a high level of safety and security awareness within Gable.
- Run accident prevention, safety and security programs.
- Train managers and supervisors on proper safety and health procedures.
- Assist management in the annual inspection of workplaces to assure safe and healthy conditions for workers.
- Prepares appropriate notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards.
- Provides promotional materials and develops and administers recognition systems to promote safe, secure and healthful work performance.
- Supports the Safety Management Information System (SMIS) by recording all accident reports in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
- Assures that claims for injuries and illnesses posted in SMIS are posted in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration log.
- Chair monthly safety committee meetings.

The noise level in the environment is moderate to high. Frequent shop noise will be very loud and protective ear covers may be needed.
