Description
Contribute to creation of a 3D Printed Orthodontic Product, a 100% patient-matched orthodontic ceramic bracket, designed from digital impressions with the goal of reducing treatment duration for patients and chair-time for clinicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Working directly with Product Management and a small scrum team, design, implement, test and maintain features critical to the success of our customers (internal & external) using a variety of technologies along the way.
- Define strategies to understand real world product performance and opportunities for improvement, which may include, but are not limited to customer interviews & surveys, site visits, and automated data collection.
- Determine critical characteristics and success metrics for specific product areas and drive implementation of measurements to understand performance.
- Develop and maintain a roadmap for specific product areas, informed by understanding needs of the customer and current product performance.
- Consider requirements of multiple stakeholders to make informed decisions on implementation strategies for new products or functionality.
- Identify novel approaches to accomplish customized product design that fits into the overall vision for the Hardware Engineering department.
- Communicate roadmap, expected completion timelines, and thought process behind prioritization of different investments to senior management.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering
- At least two years of work experience as a biomedical engineer
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency with implicit modeling gained through one (1) year of work experience;
- Proficiency with rapid prototyping and 3D printing, specifically DLP and SLA printing technologies gained through one (1) year of work experience;
- Proficiency with the design of custom medical devices and product development gained through two (2) years of work experience;
- Proficiency designing fixed appliance orthodontic devices gained through two (2) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with end users and medical professionals to define clinical needs and requirements gained through one (1) year of work experience; and
- Demonstrated ability to identify and communicate critical milestones and results to senior managers gained through one (1) year of work experience.
All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
Physical Demands
- Requires the ability to use hands, and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to reach and manipulate controls on equipment
- Requires the ability to see, listen, and speak
- Ability to view and reliably identify small (< 1 mm), low-contrast features on parts/components
- Perform work activities with production chemicals, adhesives and epoxies, using required personal protective equipment

- Work is generally performed in an open office, sedentary position.
