About the Role


As the Director, Brand Marketing, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s brand marketing strategy with the ultimate goal of increasing brand awareness, driving user acquisition, and improving customer retention. You will lead the charge on architecting brand storytelling, data-driven insights, and creative innovation through brand, content, social media, and community program marketing.  You'll report to the Chief Business Officer.You must be commutable to our NYC headquarters and will operate in a hybrid environment with 2 days per week in the office (Tuesdays & Thursdays).

What You’ll Do


  • Create a comprehensive brand marketing strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives that drives awareness, user acquisition, and retention
  • Mentor, manage, and lead the social, community, and content teams 
  • Monitor, analyze, and measure the effectiveness of brand marketing initiatives to develop insights and make recommendations for future iterations
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy that aligns with GlossGenius.com’s brand values and business objectives inclusive of creating and nurturing a vibrant, supportive online and offline community of beauty professionals
  • Initiate and manage community campaigns that encourage active participation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among community members
  • Develop, execute, and manage an integrated strategy across social platforms, partnering closely with Performance Marketing to drive synergies between Paid and Organic
  • Develop and manage the monthly social, content, and community calendars to ensure alignment among cross-functional teams, supporting new product launches and thoughtful content marketing that inspires customer action 
  • Manage brand activations from ideation, concepting, operationalizing, execution and reporting
  • Develop content marketing strategies that tap into consumer, cultural, and business insights and activate across channels and drive measurable top-of-funnel results
  • Manage brand health measurement and translate your findings into actionable strategy

What We’re Looking For 


  • 10+ years of experience in brand marketing with at least 4 years of experience managing a team of marketing professionals
  • Knack for and demonstrated experience in devising strategies that nail key positioning, differentiation, and messages in catchy, succinct campaigns 
  • Expert knowledge of all major social media platforms (TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and SnapChat), best practices/trends, and reporting tools
  • A strong understanding of how to bring campaigns to life through storytelling and activation
  • Experience in community management with a strong understanding of how to build content, follower growth, and engagement
  • Analytical and data-driven leader that can design and implement strategy, budget, and execution plans for the team, and measure and monitor their success
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional leadership (eg, Creative, Performance Marketing, Product, Customer Success)

The starting base salary for this role in NYC is between $180,000-$225,000 + target equity + benefits. The base salary offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education.
