Our technology automates complex pick, pack, and sort operations.The Principal Quality Engineer, Field Sustaining works within TSE, reporting into the PM/Quality function. Their primary responsibility is to provide the technical expertise necessary to ensure ongoing productive operation of fielded BG systems. These engineers work very closely as an interface with the GSS, Field, and Ops teams, also regularly embedding with each.

Functions

  • Develop extremely deep and comprehensive product knowledge and troubleshooting expertise through extensive hands-on experience and training.
  • Train by embedding with the HW & SW Engineering design teams, SQA, Supply Chain & Purchasing, TechOps, Install, Activation, Systems Engineering, GSS, and CSM teams to follow a BG product from contract signature through to sustained productive operation.
  • Receive escalated service calls as the primary SME for the product. Provide expert-level troubleshooting support for complex issues encountered in the field.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to troubleshoot or deploy hot fixes or product upgrades.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and collaboration between BG teams to lead continuous improvement and standardization initiatives throughout every stage of the product lifecycle. E.g. design improvements motivated by field use, commissioning improvements, RCA process improvements, knowledgebase article development, etc.
  • Lead or participate in growing the FSE competency at BG.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Robotics engineering background. Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Three or more years of related work experience in robotics or industrial automation-relevant field including experience with:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Equipment such as conveyor systems, robot arms, photo-eyes, proximity sensors, VFD drives, barcode scanners, safety controllers.
  • Motion systems for industrial settings, e.g. MDR conveyor, linear motion stages, BLDC, servo, stepper and induction motors, and gearheads.
  • Industrial sensors, e.g. barcode scanners, beam-breaks, pressure sensors, force sensors, etc.)
  • Interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams and system-level drawings.
  • Troubleshooting electrical systems, sensors, mechanical systems, and software controls logic.
  • PC programming in python or comparable language.
  • Industrial electrical work involving 220-480v hardware & standards.
  • SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD tool.
  • Running Windows tools to update/edit custom device firmware.
  • ROS software and Linux operating system.
  • Setting aggressive but feasible schedules/milestones for your own work, and achieving them.
  • Writing with high-level technical proficiency (specs, test plans, reports, white papers, etc.)
