Our parent company is a top 15 SBA 7(a) preferred lender with SBA express and small loan capabilities.Position Description:We are looking for an SBA BDO to join our dynamic and growing team. You will be pioneering our local SBA efforts and working closely with our technology teams to automate, systematize, and greatly improve the SBA customer experience. You will be reviewing SBA 7(a) applications as well as spearheading our small loan and SBA express products. Your responsibilities include communicating directly with borrowers to qualify and structure their loans to ensure they fit within the SBA SOP guidelines and eligibility.We are looking for a leader who will also be able to train more junior development representatives and build a strong and industry leading team.The unique aspect of this role is that although we value new business and relationship generation, we have a substantial amount of leads and volume already that should be more that enough to keep you and the team busy.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review each assigned SBA application through completion of the pre-screen process to ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan packages.
  • Apply knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to evaluate loan applications for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
  • Perform detailed analysis of financial statement spreads and repayment capacity for borrowers, affiliate business entities, and corporate and personal guarantors.
  • Review business and personal credit reports, as well as industry and market data.
  • Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of all systems utilized by the department.
  • Foster new and expanding existing customer relationships through cross-selling products and services.
  • Develop and maintain a referral source database for both loan marketing purposes.
  • Apply and maintain a thorough understanding of our credit policy, SBA eligibility, and all necessary business practices to ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan application packages.
  • Interact with brokers and referral relationships regarding loan applicants.
  • Serve as the client point of contact through the entire loan closing and servicing lifecycle.
  • Train, mentor, and guide less experienced team members.
  • Build and create an internal process guide for the Business Development Officer Team.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of SBA experience.
  • A thorough knowledge of SBA lending rules, regulations, and practices include SOP 50-10.
  • Three (3) or more years in commercial loan funding, financial analysis, or portfolio management experience.
  • Must have averaged a production level of at least $10 million in SBA/USDA loans in each of the last two years.
  • Ability to prioritize and operate with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in managing customer relationships.
  • Proficient financial knowledge and spreading abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.

Physical Demands:The physical demands of the position are typical of those found in a traditional office environment. Employees will not need to walk significant distances nor lift substantial weight.
