Full-timeDescriptionSFI is searching for a Data Scientist/Developer to join our team to support a stable multi-year client program. The Data Scientist/Developer will provide data science support for R&D Labs. The purpose of R&D Labs is to research IT tools and techniques that potentially have a high payoff in improving IT systems; functionality, implementation, maintenance, and operations. The R&D Labs scope includes all technical domains: Innovation, Data/AI, Development, and Security/Operations.
Target areas for improvement include, but are not limited to software development productivity, increased automation of DevOps, and expanded self-service customer support. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals excited about trying new technologies, can handle rapid project turnarounds, possess excellent communication skills, and can effectively infer and align with the vision of stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identify and automate the collection of valuable data sources, ensuring robust and clean datasets for AI model training.
- Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data, employing advanced techniques to prepare datasets for ML and LLM.
- Analyze large datasets to discover trends and patterns, building predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
- Conduct training, tuning, and validation of AI models, focusing on performance optimization and accuracy.
- Develop proofs of concept for integrating AI into Low Code applications and RPA processes, testing ML models.
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to align AI solutions with business challenges and operational needs.
Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- BS or BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent technical studies.
- 10+ years of IT experience, with at least 6 years in data science, machine learning, or AI research and development.
- Strong experience in data mining, machine learning, operations research, and particularly in training and tuning AI models.
- Proficient in R, SQL, and Python.
- Demonstrated ability in the end-to-end AI/ML lifecycle, from data preparation to model deployment.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrates a strong enthusiasm for exploring and adopting new technologies.
- Capable of managing tasks with short turnaround times, and adapting quickly to changing project needs.
- Exhibits excellent communication skills, ensuring clear and effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.
- Able to understand and infer the vision of stakeholders, contributing strategically to project goals and directions.
Preferred Skills:
- Skilled in using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
- Skilled in using RPR tools (e.g., UIPath, PowerAutomate)
- Experience with SAFe or other Agile frameworks is a plus.

- The salary for this position is $90,000 - $150,000 annually
