Position Description:
Ardent is hiring a GIS Developer supporting a prestigious geospatial government agency and program. We are seeking an accomplished GIS Developer to join our dedicated team, that has the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects and play a pivotal role in advancing space and Earth sciences. As a GIS Developer supporting the our client, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying geospatial applications and capabilities that underpin business and mission activities.
Your technical expertise will be instrumental in creating and maintaining web-based GIS applications and APIs to facilitate data access and analysis.
Responsibilities:
Application Development:
- Design, develop, and deploy geospatial applications and capabilities to meet business and mission requirements.
- Create and maintain web-based GIS applications, ensuring optimal user experience and performance.
Geospatial Application Interfaces (APIs):
- Maintain and create geospatial application program interfaces (APIs), including ESRI's ArcGIS Server APIs (JavaScript, REST, and Python).
- Enhance APIs to facilitate seamless data access and integration.
JavaScript Libraries:
- Utilize multiple JavaScript libraries, including Dojo, jQuery, Leaflet, etc., to enhance geospatial functionality.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in geospatial technology and libraries.
Software Expertise:
- Leverage your knowledge of past and current versions of geospatial software programs, including ESRI's ArcGIS products (ArcGIS Server, etc.).
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the ESRI Enterprise platform.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in .NET, JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, Python, and Java for application development.
- Work with various RDBMS software, including but not limited to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Design, develop, and deploy geospatial applications and capabilities to support business and mission activities.
- Maintain and create geospatial application program interfaces (APIs), including ESRI's ArcGIS Server APIs.
- Utilize multiple JavaScript libraries and geospatial software programs, including ESRI products.
- Proficiency in .NET, JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, Python, and Java.
- Familiarity with various RDBMS software.
- Strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
- Be a self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively within a multi-discipline team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in application development, with at least five (5) years in GIS application development.
- Proven experience in documenting code and performing version control using industry-standard tools.
