What you’ll do


The Launch Cost Analyst plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful launch of Scout Motors' factory by meticulously managing and evaluating launch costs. Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Comprehensive Cost Analysis - Conduct a thorough analysis of various cost components associated with the factory launch, including but not limited to equipment, labor, materials, and operational expenses.
  • Comprehensive Cost Analysis - Develop accurate and detailed financial forecasts based on the gathered cost data, providing essential insights into the financial implications of the launch.
  • Budget Oversight - Collaborate with department heads to establish and monitor budgets, ensuring alignment with the overall launch strategy and financial goals.
  • Cost Optimization Strategies - Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements throughout the launch process, contributing to overall cost-effectiveness.
  • Technical Process Understanding - Learn, analyze, and understand the technical processes within the factory to challenge and validate cost estimations effectively.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration - Engage proactively with departments such as Production, Procurement, and Finance to gather relevant data and ensure a holistic understanding of cost factors.
  • Documentation and Reporting - Prepare comprehensive documentation outlining cost breakdowns, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies for review by senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement - Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on post-launch evaluations, refining cost estimation processes for future projects.
  • Stakeholder Communication - Effectively communicate cost-related findings, recommendations, and risks to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Risk Management - Proactively identify potential risks in cost estimation and escalation procedures, working collaboratively to develop risk mitigation plans.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Educational Background - Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Industry Experience - Proven experience in cost estimation, financial analysis, or related roles within the automotive or relevant comparable industries.
  • Technical Understanding - Solid technical understanding of manufacturing processes, especially in the automotive industry, to effectively challenge and validate launch costs.
  • Analytical Skills - Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically evaluate and challenge cost-related information.
  • Communication Skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail Orientation - Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy in forecasting and documentation.
  • Problem-Solving Ability - Demonstrated problem-solving ability, especially in the context of cost-related challenges.
  • Financial Acumen - Sound financial acumen and understanding of budgeting processes.

Pay Transparency


This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.Initial base salary range: $100,000 - $115,000Internal leveling code: IC9
