What you’ll do


Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Responsible for the battery housing for all new products. You will cover from clean sheet of paper through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for all Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUVs.
  • Integrate the battery housing in the vehicle structure as a significant part of the load path.
  • Ensure with your team a close collaboration with the energy system team and other important stakeholders (e.g. vehicle safety, body in white team, …).
  • Working together with suppliers and engineering service providers and controlling their participation in the project
  • Build and coach a diverse team while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development among team members.
  • Develop prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
  • Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
  • Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
  • Contribute to the design of production facilities for body systems of the Scout trucks & SUVs.
  • Manage resources efficiently including infrastructure, financial, supplier partners and people.
  • Be a key member and decision maker within the technical leadership team and liaison with all Scout functions.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, engineering management, or a relevant field.
  • 7+ years of experience in body electrical and/or mechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
  • Strong technical skills and expertise in vehicles structures, employing a 1st Principles approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.

Pay Transparency


This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.Initial base salary range = $150,000-$170,000Internal leveling code: IC8
