The Environmental Justice Associate will provide onsite and remote federal program leadership.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with a diverse set of stakeholders to assist and provide education, outreach, and assistance regarding DOE's Justice40 Initiative
- Create and strengthen relationships with environmental justice communities and stakeholders to facilitate the exchange of ideas and encourage community participation in the process
- Work with others to research and develop communication, engagement, and outreach materials for communities, stakeholders, and environmental justice advocates
- Assist with the development of climate change policy
- Provide research and analysis on long-term financing and funding, and the associated policy impacts, for full implementation of the Justice40 Initiative and other environmental policies
- Assist in developing and coordinating the project, organize meetings, and develop information and guidance documents for a wide range of stakeholders
- Research strategies to support long-term climate action funding, financing, and other ad hoc environmental issues, including literature reviews and online research
- Prepare and edit written materials such as memos, fact sheets, framing papers, talking points, and briefing materials that will inform the implementation of climate action
- Provide a supporting role in planning, development, communication, performance, and improvement of policy and programs to advance the Justice40 ambitious climate goals
- Support the coordination of technical reports and guidance, as well as other documents or specialized content for internal and external audiences
- Coordinate outreach, public meetings, training, and events
- Provide additional as-needed support on special projects for the Climate Program Manager
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of US Citizenship required to obtain client-issued Public Trust
- Experience working directly with and communicating effectively with socioeconomically diverse audiences
- Experience with equity, inclusion, and diversity concepts and applying them in the environmental field
- Experience or interest in environmental justice
- Experience conducting literature reviews, compiling data, and analysis for ongoing and new research projects, with a focus on financing and climate change
- Experience with research, writing, and report preparation
- Experience with organizing, coordinating internal and external meetings, events, and conference
- Understanding of or interest in the environment
- Ability to navigate internal processes and procedures against tight timelines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and an understanding of fundamental business writing
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree
