We are seeking a Data Governance Manager to join our data protection office (DPO). The candidate will have a strong understanding of best practices and experience developing and implementing policies and principles. The Data Governance Manager will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, quality and security of our digital assets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.
- Promote data quality and integrity.
- Facilitate the coordination of access, sharing, and protection settings for company assets in collaboration with IT groups, while also overseeing sensitivity labeling and DLP protection settings management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address data governance issues.
- Conduct data governance audits and assessments.
- Provide training and education to company employees.
- Understand and provide input into data governance issues in the company’s technology stack.
- Develop and execute the company's business data strategy, for instance surrounding new technology including artificial intelligence, aligning with organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest data governance trends and best practices.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform tasks beyond the scope listed within this job description that are required to meet corporate and department objectives.Occasional travel to alternate company sites to provide training and support for initiatives.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, information systems, data management, STEM or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance or a related field.
- Prior experience managing Microsoft Purview and SharePoint systems is desirable or prior status as SME (“subject matter expert”) on similar system.
- Experience with data classification, data lineage, and metadata management.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in conducting data governance audits and assessments.

- Stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks and effectively use time and resources to accomplish objectives.
