What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including designers, engineers, and modelers, to develop physical models from provided data
- Comprehending direction provided through engineering sections, design sketches, or digital renderings to facilitate the creation of model components to represent design intent
- Assisting with model fabrication projects including component updates, modification, and maintenance of existing properties
- Performing general model making tasks such as minor mechanical & electrical projects, prep and paint of small items, vinyl wrap or model film installation, setup of models in PLP grid, etc.
- Supporting model property logistics, including transportation and handling for internal and external reviews
- Coordinating with external model build suppliers to ensure design intent is accurately translated into prototype components, while maintaining timing, cost, and quality targets
- Continuously monitoring industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer preferences to drive innovation and incorporate the latest advancements into vehicle designs.
- Participating in design reviews, providing technical expertise, and contributing to the overall improvement of design processes and methodologies.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in the Novi, MI metro area. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. #LI-Hybrid
What you’ll bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, or a related field, or sufficient certification and proven experience deemed an equivalent substitution.
- 8+ years of experience in fabrication, modeling, prototyping, or similar related role in the automotive or transportation industry.
- Proficiency in reading and collaborating using industry-standard PLP grid location, CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks) for 3D modeling, ability to read & comprehend technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of automotive design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and industry regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to translate design concepts into practical solutions while considering functional requirements, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present design concepts to diverse audiences.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.Initial base salary range = $120,000 - $140,000Internal leveling code: IC8
