We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Senior Human Factors Engineer
to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of human factors research, industry trends, and state-of-the-art methodologies. This role requires a proactive individual who can apply their extensive knowledge to evaluate, design, and improve products and processes, ensuring they are user-centric and meet the highest standards of usability and safety. Please note this position is contingent upon award.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of human factors research and evaluation strategies to support the design and assessment of products and processes.
- Utilize advanced knowledge of human factors engineering and ergonomics to identify potential design improvements, minimize negative impacts, and enhance overall user experience.
- Actively participate in live demo calls, providing thoughtful suggestions and reacting adaptively to participant feedback during user sessions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to articulate human factors issues, propose solutions, and advocate for user-centered design principles.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including team members and end users, about human factors considerations, both formally in presentations and informally in discussions.
- Ensure all product designs and processes comply with relevant standards and best practices in human factors engineering (HFE).
- Apply SAFe Lean Agile principles and practices to foster an environment of continuous improvement, drive value, and sustain organizational change through the empowerment of high-performing Agile teams.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in human factors engineering, with a proven track record of applying research findings and industry trends to real-world applications.
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting evaluations, devising strategies, and suggesting redesigns to improve product usability and process efficiency.
- Strong ability to visualize and predict the impacts of design changes on various user groups.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey human factors considerations to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable standards and human factors engineering methods.
- Experience with implementing SAFe’s Lean Agile principles and practices in a professional setting.
- The ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
- Detailed understanding of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Project) and their features/functions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills.
- Deep experience with creating executive-level documentation and reports.
- Detailed understanding IT System Development Life Cycle, Agile, or SAFe concepts.
- Ability to interface well with end-users and senior client stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative virtual environment.
- Detail-oriented consulting approach, with client service focus.
- Self-starter able to work independently and within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Human Factors Engineering or Professional Ergonomics.
- Experience in healthcare.
- Proficiency in using human factors engineering software and tools.
- Experience with systems such as NASA Task Load Index (TLX), System Usability Scale (SUS), Post-Study Usability Questionnaire (PSSUQ), Health Information Technology Usability Evaluation Scale (ITUEs), CPRS/VISTA, Oracle Millennium, TermMed, Symedical, VA SNOMED Extension (VSE), Health Level 7 (HL7), and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR).
- VA or VHA experience

$120,000 - $140,000 a yearThis range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as Trilogy Federal conducts an individual equity review for every candidate based on experience, location, education, industry experience, and comparisons to internal pay bands.
