This candidate must be customer focused, have excellent time management, communication, leadership, and follow-up skills.We are looking for a Senior Consultant who has expertise with the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and who loves a challenge, loves working with data, and enjoys wrestling with software to solve problems.  The Senior Consultant will operate on a team responsible for delivering Configuration Management Tools to our customers.

  • Identify and document customer requirements for discovery and modeling of CIs, applications and services
  • Guide customers to align defined requirements with industry recommended best practices
  • Design and architect technical solutions for deployment of tools; work with teams to achieve consensus on design/architecture, and communicate the design to the client
  • Plan and direct implementation of specific tools (Micro Focus Universal CMDB, ServiceNow CMDB)
  • Define and document modeling standards; develop models according to standards; mentor junior consultants and customer staff in modeling skills
  • Develop CMDB application views and perspectives to support report creation and data presentation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents involving Configuration Management tools; work with software manufacturer to open and track support cases on behalf of the customer when necessary
  • Working with other team members, configure and enable discovery to collect CIs in scope to the appropriate level of detail, given the customers’ requirements
  • Configure and activate integrations among Micro Focus and non-Micro Focus tools as they relate to Configuration Management
  • Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior consultants and client staff
  • Document key processes and activities required to deploy, maintain and support Configuration Management
  • Work in conjunction with experts in Service Management, Event Management and Monitoring to ensure that processes are correctly integrated with Configuration Management across all disciplines

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Education Required: 4-year university degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience Required:  Minimum 5 years in corporate, military or government environment working in a hands-on role with Micro Focus Configuration Management tools (UCMDB, UD)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of Configuration Management in supporting and facilitating other IT Service Management Processes, such as Incident Management, Change Management, Request Management and Problem Management
  • Expert TQL query development skills
  • Expert understanding of Micro Focus approved modeling methodologies and best practices
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) to both technical and non-technical audiences; good people / customer engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to capture and document customer requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively as part of a team
  • Able to work with minimal supervision

Desired Skills:

  • Monitoring/event management experience
  • Server administration experience (or understanding of how servers work)
  • Understanding of how operating systems work and interact with discovery
  • ITIL Foundations Certification
  • Micro Focus UCMDB certification
  • ServiceNow CMDB experience (Discovery, Service Mapping Implementation Certifications very nice to have)
