The Director of Finance will serve as our executive team's cornerstone, driving our financial strategy, ensuring strict compliance with government regulations, and cultivating robust relationships with key financial institutions within the GOVCON industry. The role requires an individual with exceptional leadership skills, strategic foresight, and a proven track record of success in aggressive financial management and relationship building. The Director of Finance candidate shall seek to become part of a successful company to take responsibility for all financial and accounting department responsibilities.
Candidates must be able to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Financial Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy that is closely aligned with the organization's overarching goals and mission.
    • Lead the annual budgeting process, engaging in long-term financial planning efforts, and undertaking strategic financial modeling.
    • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and the strategic allocation of capital to maximize profitability.

  • Financial Management and Compliance:
    • Oversee all facets of financial operations, including accounting functions such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
    • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
    • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
    • Strong knowledge of cost control, budgeting, accounting, and finance principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
    • Ensure unwavering compliance with government regulations and contract requirements, including strict adherence to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regula􀆟on Supplement (DFARS).
    • Implement robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to minimize risk exposure and safeguard our company's assets.

  • Relationship Management:
    • PROACTIVELY Cultivate and nurture a continually strong set of relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders, including banks, lending institutions, investors, venture capitalists, and other financial partners.
    •  Nego􀆟ate favorable terms for financing, lines of credit, and capital investments, thereby bolstering support for our company's growth initiatives.
    • Act as the primary liaison for all financial matters, engaging in meaningful dialogues and fostering productive partnerships with external parties.

  • Capital Markets and Fundraising:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to access capital markets, encompassing both debt and equity financing, to facilitate our business expansion and strategic initiatives.
    • Prepare and deliver compelling investment proposals, intricate financial models, and comprehensive business plans to prospective investors and lenders.
    • Maintain robust investor relationships, ensuring effective communication, diligent reporting, and meticulous adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Strategic Analysis and Decision Support:
    • Conduct rigorous financial analysis and meticulous scenario planning to underpin our strategic decision-making processes, encompassing pricing strategies, investment opportunities, and resource allocation.
    • Provide invaluable insights and actionable recommendations to our senior leadership team, leveraging a deep understanding of financial performance metrics, prevailing market trends, and competitive dynamics.
    • Champion continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing our financial performance, optimizing operational efficiency, and driving sustained shareholder value.

  • Contract Management and Compliance:
    • Collaborate closely with our Senior Vice President of Contracts to meticulously participate in our contract management processes, ensuring accurate billing, timely invoicing, and unwavering contract compliance.
    • Notify and work with the Senior Vice President of contracts Operations to identify & Mi􀆟gate potential financial risks associated with contract performance through vigilant monitoring, strategic mitigation strategies, and swift dispute resolution.

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business administration, or a related field; an MBA or CPA qualification would be advantageous.
    • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in financial management, ideally within the GOVCON industry or a comparable sector.
    • A demonstrable track record of success in crafting and executing comprehensive financial strategies, driving robust business growth and maximizing profitability.
    • A profound understanding of government regulations and compliance requirements, including a nuanced comprehension of FAR and DFARS.
    • Exceptional leadership capabilities, underscored by a proven ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams, initiate organizational change, and foster a culture of relentless improvement.
    • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills enable you to cultivate and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders across all echelons.
    • A strategic mindset, complemented by the ability to conduct incisive analyses of complex financial data, identify prevailing trends and emergent opportunities and furnish our senior leadership team with actionable insights.
