Digital Infuzion is seeking a Product Owner with experience in leading system development in the clinical research domain. The Product Owner interfaces with the customer to understand their vision and needs to design functionality encompassing the requested and potential scenarios the customer has yet to envision. The Product Owner acts on behalf of the customer by leading the development team in implementing the customer’s vision and works with the technical team to ensure that the developed product (system) meets and exceeds the customer’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior management and customers to understand business goals and vision for the system and translate them into product requirements
- Set and communicate clear goals at the beginning of every release and sprint to ensure the team understands the objectives and works towards achieving them
- Maintains a prioritized backlog according to business value so that each successive sprint is planned clearly and efficiently, and that development decisions are aligned with business needs
- Serve as the primary interface between the stakeholders and the development team
- Participate actively with the development team in the backlog grooming process, refining, and prioritizing user stories
- Plan and prioritize product development and product feature backlog to meet the product roadmap
- Set expectations for delivery of new functionalities with stakeholders
- Communicate the requirements to the development team and is responsible for the overall success of the solution being developed or maintained
- Manage stakeholder engagement through working group meetings and provides ongoing communication and regular updates to key stakeholders
- Ensure the system meets the needs of the customer
- Lead and support development of workflows
- Manage all stages of product creation, including design and development, using Agile Scrum
- Participate in design meetings and review design artifacts
- Create and/or review project artifacts, and deliverables
- Coordinate end user testing
- Collaborate with other Product Owners
- Support operations and maintenance
- Support computer system validation and adhere to computer system validation (CSV) SOPs
- Remain current and participate in continuing education and training opportunities related to clinical informatics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Information Systems, or Life Sciences or Biology or a suitable combination of education, training, and experience
- 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner for custom-developed software solutions
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in leading the successful delivery of complex IT systems using technologies such as .NET and SQL Server
- 5+ years of experience in clinical research informatics with knowledge of clinical research processes and informatics needs
- Experience in leading a multidisciplinary team
- Strong facilitation, planning, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated experience in Agile Scrum and use of application lifecycle management tools like Azure DevOps
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate knowledge acquisition business modeling with both operational and managerial staff
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a life-sciences regulated environment
Preferred Skills and Experiences
- Experience leading the implementation of life-sciences projects at NIH
- Knowledge of software quality assurance, validation, and industry standards (e.g., CMMI)
- Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 and Good Clinical Practice
