The Clean Energy Advisor will support the Portfolio Risk Management Team, which: (1) maintains and executes OCED’s risk posture plan and related assessments; (2) develops portfolio risk analysis to inform strategic planning and program execution (from design to selection to ongoing oversight); and (3) synthesizes data at the project, program, and portfolio levels to determine market, project, social, and technical risks, as well as impact evaluation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the plan development, implementation, and operationalization of the portfolio risk posture
- Providing expertise as needed and relevant for the Strategy and Program Development team within PSD during program concept development
- Supporting portfolio risk assessment and balancing recommendations through, among other things, solution-dependency analyses (existing & planned portfolio)
- Integrating and analyzing project- and program-level data to identify emergent risks to portfolio success to inform further program development
- Collaborating with the Markets and Energy Analysis (MEA) team within PSD in extracting portfolio progress into external-facing results to accelerate commercial liftoff
- Supporting the development of analytical tools to support portfolio-level decision-making in applicant review and project selection/continuation
Requirements
- Minimum of US Citizenship required to obtain client-issued Public Trust
- 3+ years in energy investment portfolio development, asset allocation, portfolio risk management, and portfolio/investment evaluation
- Excellent quantitative analysis and modeling skills, especially in energy sector financials and techno-economic analyses
- Depth of knowledge in project, portfolio, and systems-level financial, analytical, and evaluative methods, models, tools, and techniques
- Expertise in applying analysis to make critical decisions around topics such as commercial adoption readiness and the market impact of future technologies
- Commercial experience with energy and decarbonization technologies
- Strategic thinking skills with a solid capacity to self-direct attention to the highest priority dimensions of a multi-faceted problem
- Collaborative mindset with cross-functional working capabilities
- Ability to drive to discrete outputs from ambiguity
- Strong commitment to fostering and supporting a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplace
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, and an understanding of fundamental business writing
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
