Internal Communications Manager
Reports to:
Chief Communications Officer (CCO)
Scope:
CIPE is seeking a full-time, exempt position based in Washington, D.C. for an Internal Communications Manager. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of plans to engage and communicate with employees. As a key member of the Communications team, this position will partner with leadership across the organization to provide support, feedback, and guidance on how best to communicate key initiatives internally.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Senior Leadership and parallel departments to keep staff around the globe informed about organizational priorities and new developments in a timely manner.
- Craft and implement internal communication and engagement strategies that reflect the organization’s mission, vision, values, and work culture.
- Develop internal plans for engaging employees in DEIB strategies and aligning key messages with external communications around CIPE initiatives.
- Build feedback mechanisms that can be utilized to further evolve strategy and alert management to employee concerns.
- Survey employees and reports findings to Leadership, offering actionable ideas to better engage staff.
- Lead and execute internal communications campaigns and activities related to key initiatives.
- Oversee, create, and author content for the CIPE intranet and other communications channels.
- Work with Leadership and Human Resources to produce townhall meeting presentations and support employee events.
- Provides speaker support to Leadership for both external and internal events.
- Develop employer brand strategy in partnership with CCO and Senior Leadership.
- Other projects or duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA in Communications, Public Relations, or relevant field required.
- Eight or more years of communications experience required.
- Proven experience managing internal communications for a mid-sized or large organization, including change management situations.
- Ability to develop narratives that weave organizational mission and values into the employee experience.
- Experience with international development and topics consistent with CIPE’s mission, including anti-corruption and business ethics, democratic governance, business association advocacy, entrepreneurship and others.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, establish, and maintain good relationships with international partners, donors, and colleagues.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills across media formats.
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated understanding of various channels and platforms for internal communications in a hybrid environment. This includes excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Previous work with Sway, HubSpot, and/or Mailchimp preferred.
