Junior Financial Analyst

Altarum is seeking a Junior Financial Analyst to support the growing FP&A team. The Junior Financial Analyst will support project financial tracking, pricing, budgeting and forecasting and other ad hoc analyses. This role will report to the Financial Analysis Manager and will closely interact with project managers and other Enterprise Leaders to provide analyses and insights related to financial trends for Altarum projects and subsidiary companies.

Responsibilities:


  • Oversees a portfolio of projects supporting one business unit within the enterprise. 
  • Provides monthly and occasionally ad-hoc project budget trackers to project managers. 
  • Monitors estimate at completion analyses in support of the business unit using Altarum’s financial forecasting tool. 
  • Prepare monthly financial updates for the business unit summarizing prior month actuals. 
  • Performs in-depth analysis of financial data related to grants or government contracts, identifying trends and potential issues with spending patterns. 
  • Supports the business unit with preparation of project specific budgets during annual budgeting process following FP&A policies and procedures to ensure budgets are aligned with organizational goals.  
  • Assists with other requirements of FP&A group, as assigned. 
  • Works closely with Contracts department to ensure financial aspects of projects are aligned with contractual requirements. 
  • Participate on proposal teams as the lead pricing support for the preparation and assembly of cost proposals and internal and external audits. 
  • Support preparation of proposal cost volumes describing specific estimating methodology to support price reasonableness. 

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related business discipline 
  • Must have at least two (2) years of related experience in budget, finance or accounting 
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level 
  • Proven planning and organizational skills 
  • Strong analytical skills and strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently, setting priorities and managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of efficiency and accuracy 
  • Flexible with the ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working with multiple government contract types (Cost Plus, T&M, FFP, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and other government regulations 
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Project Planning tools or comparable accounting and reporting systems 
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe PDF 
  • Knowledgeable about non-profits and their various types of funders: federal and state governments, foundations and/or private donors 

Logistical Requirements:


  • At this time we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
  • Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
  • If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Ann Arbor, or Portland this role will be hybrid.
  • Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
