Mechanical Engineer

Job Overview:
Infinitum is looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer to work on-site with our R&D team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct product design and development following general design guidelines and tools including CAD programs.
- Conduct calculations and analysis using closed-form methods, computer applications, and fully functional FEA and other simulation tools. Develop calculation tools for specific problems.
- Support other departments and customers by addressing technical questions under general design guidelines.
- Review drawings, schematics, bills of material, and other documentation necessary to manufacture, test, install, and commission products.
- Create and enhance specific design guidelines by leveraging past experience and technical learning.
- Assist in the development of new products by providing input on specifications, designing and building prototypes, devising validation tests, and preparing supporting documentation.
- Provide input to project feasibility and cost analysis.
- Execute tasks according to orders or project schedules, striving for 100% on-time completion. Provide timely reports on project status.
- Participate in product improvement, productivity improvement, standardization, cost reduction, and cycle time reduction initiatives. Lead some of these initiatives.
- Provide disposition to non-conformances and participate in corrective actions providing technical input based on established design guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Engineering or Physical Science with four to six years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree desired.
- Four to six years of experience designing rotating machines, preferably electric motors and generators. Experience with permanent magnet machines is an asset.
- Working knowledge of NEMA, IEEE, API, and IEC standards applicable to electric motors and generators.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- In-depth understanding of design for manufacturability and manufacturing processes in general.
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Experience using FEA software conducting stress and/or thermal analysis is an asset.
