Full-timeDescriptionThis is a Business Development Manager position that is responsible for providing customer driven focus to provide technical expertise, and product selection directly for customers within the Instrumentation and Analytical category. The expectation is that the business development leader will work with outside sales, inside sales, service, and our engineered solutions teams to grow our portfolio at a rate of 10% growth YOY or greater. Although there is direction from management team on strategic sales initiatives, procedures, and goals, BDM’s are expected to be able to perform day-to-day marketing/sales activities and meet sales objectives primarily without direct supervision.
The BDM’s set their own day-to-day schedules. BDM will be spending at least 60% of their time on execution of strategy, 25% of their time with supplier development and 15% of their time on strategy.
Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overall be the subject matter expert (SME) for the products and supplier within the category
- Develop accounts by informing customers of all our value-added services
- Handle customer complaints promptly and effectively
- Maintain customer and category data pipeline in CRM
- Provide account & product guidance for sales personnel
- Provide product & market training for sales personnel and new employees as required
- Taking a lead role in key business pursuits, monitor and help win key sales opportunities. Participate as the SME in deal winning sessions
- Assist with project proposal development
- Deliver technology seminars with end users, integrators, & engineering firms
- Conduct product demonstrations with key customers as needed
- Provide guidance for sales personnel & assist in identifying & scheduling joint sales calls with principals
- Communicate regularly with manufacturer representatives and complete required POS reporting
- Develop deep relationships with key principles of the suppliers within the categories
- Work with Category leader and Marketing team to create product campaigns to run throughout the year. Drive demand in desired markets leveraging manufacture support.
- Organize all industry and customer events that are related to the category
- Assist the team in identifying and help expand the products into the digital platforms like e-catalog, e-commerce, and company product websites. Help be liaison between supplier and internal teams
- Assist with supply chain quarterly review to maintain proper inventory levels at all branches to meet company and supplier initiatives.

Requirements
Position Requirements
- 5+ years of sales experience to industrial customers including some or all of the following industries: oil & gas, chemical & refining, power generation, and wastewater.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business
- 3+ years of experience in strategic account management and development.
- Experience managing sales efforts across multiple sites
- Proven track record of landing new accounts and markets in a direct role.
- Ability to build executive level interfaces.
- Technical proposal development experience.
- Consultative selling skills.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, confident and tenacious.
- Results-oriented with a delivery focus and strong organizational skills
- Must be well-organized and capable of independent follow through
- Familiarity with current Windows operating systems and proficiency in required software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
