Ensure that the work performed is complete, accurate and that it adheres by the drawing specifications and practical design methods. Develop and maintain proficiency and competency in the application of engineering principles, mechanical designing, analysis and development of mechanical systems.Requirements

  • Analyzes current equipment; identifies areas of inefficiency and needs for improvement; designs and develops instrumentation to meet those needs.
  • Collaborates with other engineers to develop accurate, efficient equipment and ‘
  • instrumentation in accordance with safety and usability standards and client expectations.
  • Designs and tests prototypes of equipment.
  • Creates basic schematics and simulated models to test designs; modifies designs to meet specifications and budget requirements.
  • Oversees the implementation of new measuring devices and control systems, ensuring devices are correctly installed and properly tested.
  • Acts as project engineer for design, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing development.
  • Drafts and presents formal technical documents, reports, and testing results to manager for approval.
  • Drafts technical manuals for instrumentation.
  • Provides training related to devices to employees and/or customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Competencies 


  • Must be capable piping design with software programs such as CADWorx Pipe.
  • Understand pipe design and inline instrumentation arrangements such as pump suctions and discharges, tanks, control valve stations, etc. 
  • Understand specification and installation details along with formulation of bulk materials and equipment documents.
  • Must have basic use and knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D AutoCAD.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Required Education & Experience 


  • 4 + years of Project instrumentation & control engineering experience 
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering 

Physical Requirements


  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk.
  • Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking. 
  • Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Long hours on computer keyboard.
