Job Overview:
Infinitum is seeking a skilled Automation, Robotics & Control Systems Engineer to work in our Round Rock, Texas facility. As an Automation, Robotics & Control Systems Engineer at Infinitum, you will play a crucial role in helping design, implement, and improve robotic systems and control solutions for our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate for this role is a problem solver, a strong communicator, and possesses a deep understanding of automation, robotics, and control system integration principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams on designing, developing, and integrating robotic systems for industry-specific applications, ensuring high levels of precision and efficiency.
- Program and configure robotic controllers, PLCs, and SCADA systems to achieve optimal performance and reliability.
- Integrate SCADA systems with MES.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise in robotics and automation.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for automation projects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to robotic systems and control software, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
- Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in robotics, automation, and control systems.
- Document engineering designs, processes, and modifications for future reference.
- Participate in the commissioning and validation of automation systems.
- Provide training and support to operational staff in the use and maintenance of robotic systems.
- Engage directly with vendors to gather integration requirements, offer technical guidance, and address integration-related inquiries.
- Identify opportunities to enhance automation processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Contribute to the establishment of best practices and standards for automation engineering.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Ignition SCADA platform programming experience is a must-have.
- Proven experience in designing and programming robotic systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or other relevant languages.
- Strong knowledge of control theory, sensors, actuators, and motion control systems.
- Experience with robotic simulation software is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Automation Professional - CAP) are advantageous.
- Familiarity with machine learning and computer vision for robotic applications.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 principles and concepts.
- Project management skills and the ability to lead automation projects.
- Strong analytical and data analysis skills.
Proficiency in one or more of the following in highly desirable:
- SolidWorks CAD
- Fanuc Robot Programming
- Rockwell PLC Programming
- Keyence XG, CV Programming
- COGNEX Vision System Programming
- OPC-UA Server protocol
- Modbus TCP & RTU protocols
