About the Role:
The System Administrator will provide infrastructure support and technical direction and assistance throughout the institution by managing and maintaining the Information Systems (IS) Linux and Unix server environment, and assisting application teams and their customers. Provide 2nd and 3rd tier technical support to other IS teams.
What You’ll Do:
- Responsible for the proper management of Linux/Unix server environment
- Facilitates the build process for Linux/Unix VMware Guests and physical servers
- Reviews and controls disk space utilization for Linux/Unix systems
- Applies security updates, operating system patches, and major upgrades. Collaborates with security team on best practices for Linux/Unix systems and platforms.
- Defines and enforces Linux standards with server names, user names, login scripts and active directory group policies, security configurations, and intercommunications rules.
- Develops alternatives and cost estimates new systems. Negotiates with application vendor over configuration requirements.
- Assists application support and user support in configuration and interface definition and testing.
- Develops operational procedures, depending on application
- Monitors and manages Linux/Unix servers with software tools. Monitors and assists with backup procedures for Linux/Unix servers
- Develops upgrade/phase-out proposals for older equipment
- Participates in on-call duties for Linux/Unix systems
Qualifications & Interests:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Five years of experience in Linux/Unix Administration, or the equivalent in education and experience required

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.Estimated Pay Range$78,300—$113,500 USD
