Summary:
The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing engineering projects from inception to completion. This position oversees project planning, execution, monitoring, and closing, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Engineering Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, stakeholders, and vendors, to achieve project goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning:
- Partners with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Develops project plans, schedules, budgets and reporting requirements.
- Identifies resources in partnership with leadership and allocated tasks to team members.
- Establishes project milestones and timelines.
Project Execution:
- Monitors project progress and performance.
- Manages project risks and issues, and implements mitigation strategies.
- Ensures compliance with quality standards and regulations.
- Coordinates with stakeholders to address their requirements and concerns.
- Monitors project budgets and expenditures.
Communication & Reporting:
- Communicates project status, updates, and risks to stakeholders.
- Prepares and presents project reports and presentations.
- Facilitates meetings and reviews as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 years project management experience in manufacturing, engineering, or related field.
- Experience in developing advanced technology for government Department of Energy grant applications.
- Experience with government programs grant funding including scope management/changes and up scope processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience working with government grants (e.g., ARPA-E).
- Government reporting and accountability reporting for DOE projects.
- Prior experience working with manufacturing start-ups.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to execute on Department of Energy funded projects and scope management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by influence and bring internal stakeholder commitment without direct reporting connect to the delivery team.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Ability to proactively identify and communicate risks and timelines to senior management.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
